A joint venture that grew out of the collaboration between Belfast (Theory), Zürich (BEC in cavity) and Vienna (Cavity Optomechanics). We measure the entropy produced irreversibly in our non-equilibrium systems. This work paves the way to a systematic experimental assessment of entropy in mesoscopic systems.
